Boulder Learning's team of learning scientists and technologists, includes some of the foremost experts in educational technology research and development. Their core competencies encompass Automatic Speech Recognition, AI for voice technology in educational contexts, Research and Development, Data Science Methodology, and the creation of award-winning educational tools. Created in 2017 by the merger of Boulder Language Technologies and Digital Directions International Inc.,by Drs. Ron Cole and Wayne Ward—pioneers in children's speech recognition, machine learning, and artificial intelligence—and John Ramo, M.Ed, a successful ed tech entrepreneur with four company exits including an IPO, Boulder Learning boasts a combined expertise of over 120 years. The team is committed to technology to aid students, especially those facing challenges with foundational literacy, reading assessments, and math instruction, including early literacy and English Language Learners. Over the past decades, they have secured more than $25 million in research grants from the U.S. Department of Education, Institute for Education Sciences, the National Science Foundation, as well as other foundations and private investments.
